Jan Brett author study

We used the month of December to study the wonderful work of children's author Jan Brett.  Children enjoyed hearing a number of her books, among them The Mitten, The Hat, Hedgie Blasts Off, The Wild Christmas Reindeer, and Town Mouse Country Mouse.  We focussed on identifying common aspects of Jan Brett's books, comparing and contrasting as we went along.  We also used these storybooks to focus on discussion of characters, plot, and setting, and to practice making predictions about what might happen next.  As a culminating project, students made this beautiful bulletin board, which they were so proud to share with the rest of the school!
