A Word About Report Cards

Your child's first trimester report card will come home next Friday, November 18th, so that you may look it over before our Parent Conferences on the 21st.  Your Kindergartener will be assessed as "Working Toward", "Meets" or "Exceeds" the standard in Social and Emotional Growth, and as "Working Toward" or "Meets" in Literacy and Math.  It's very normal for Kindergarten students to have a number of areas that they are "Working Toward".  I am conservative in my evaluations and only mark children as "Meets" if I am certain that a skill is securely in place.  When we meet at conference time, I will be able to give you information about any areas in which I feel your child needs special help or practice, as well as any areas in which I feel your child is achieving well above most children of his/her age.
