We have two daily snack breaks in the classroom-- one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. In addition to the chance to eat and drink something and get a change from work time, Snack Time can be important learning time. As often as possible, I sit down with the children and eat my own snack, using the time to model manners and inclusive conversations. It's a time when children can talk together about topics of their own choosing and it's fascinating to listen to Recess plans being developed, and experiences shared.
