Adjusting to School

Starting Kindergarten is a HUGE step in your child's life!  We are asking him/her to get used to a whole new setting, filled with new people, new rules and new experiences-- all in a very short time!  Don't be surprised if your son or daughter seems unusually tired and/or cranky the first few weeks.  He or she may have some interrupted sleep, or even revert back to a few earlier behaviors.  He or she may need more reassurance from you than usual.   For most children, the adjustment period is complete by the end of three or four weeks.  Please let me know if your son or daughter is still having difficulties after that time; we'll want to talk together about ways to help him/her.
