Our Field Trip to Hackett's Orchard
On Friday, September 23rd, our class joined Mrs. Anderson's class and headed out to Hackett's Orchard in South Hero. We had a great time and we learned a lot! Our leader Heidi taught us how to pick an apple correctly ("Eye to the sky and twist!"), how bees help apples, what kinds of apples there are, and how to protect apple trees as they grow. We each picked three apples, saw how they wash and sort the apples, and took a tractor ride through the orchards. This visit is offered to schools by Hackett's completely free of charge. THANK YOU, HACKETT'S ORCHARD!!! Thanks, too, to the parents who came along and helped us out: Ayden's mom Beth, Florencia's mom Ursula, Nia's mom Amanda, Kieran's mom Stephanie, and Kamron's mom Trish. It was a wonderful time!
